Counselor

Mrs. Stamatakis

Hi everyone! I look forward to being your school counselor over the next four years. As your counselor, my goal is to support the academic success of all students. I work with students to assist them with academic, career, personal, social, and emotional concerns. I also work with students and families to support students in any way ranging from behavior concerns, communicating with outside therapists and agencies, and successfully transitioning students to life after high school.

Graduation Requirements

  • Students need to earn 30 credits in 9-12 grades to graduate from high school.
  • You earn credits by passing your classes! You earn .25 (1/4) of a credit per term per class you pass.
    • For example: At the end of your 9th grade year (as long as you pass all the terms) you will have 1 credit of English (.25 X 4 terms), 1 credit of math, 1 credit of science, etc., etc.
  • For classes that are a semester long (like art, PE, Exploring Computer Science) you earn .5 credit (.25 X 2 terms).
  • You get credit for all the classes you take (except Seminary), it just depends which category that credit goes towards.
  • You need a certain number of credit in certain areas to graduate:
    • 4.0 credits of English
    • 3.0 credits of Math
    • 3.0 credits of Science
    • 3.0 credits of Social Studies (including .5 credit of US Government)
    • 2.0 Credits in Career and Technical Education
    • 1.5 credits of Fine Art
    • 1.0 credits for Physical Education (PE)
    • 0.5 credits in Fitness for Life
    • 0.5 credits of Health
    • 0.5 credits of Digital Studies (this includes Exploring Computer Science and Business Office Specialist)
    • 0.5 credits of Financial Literacy
    • 10.5 credits of Electives (this includes TA, Peer Tutor, Counseling Aide, Spartan Academy. Elective credit is also anything above what is required. For example: you are required to have 3 credits of math, but colleges highly recommend 4. That 4th credit of math would go to the Elective category. This is true for all categories)
